Trailblazers

Trailblazers is an exciting initiative from ABC Heywire to support young regional changemakers.

The ABC’s Trailblazers program celebrates and supports regional Australia’s brightest new leaders.

A cohort of young changemakers is selected each year, based on the work they are doing to strengthen their communities.

Through the Trailblazers program they have their work shared with the nation on the ABC and receive an incredible package of support.

Past Trailblazers have been working on issues including strengthening Indigenous culture, youth mental health, sustainable agriculture, employment, education and supporting remote entrepreneurs.

Who can apply to be a Trailblazer

Individuals or groups of up to three people, who are:

  • Aged 18-28 (as of February 2023)
  • Working on an innovative project aimed at strengthening regional Australia
  • Committed to their community and regional Australia

What do Trailblazers receive

Successful applicants receive an incredible package of support, including; having their story told on the ABC; exclusive access to grants from the Trailblazer Development Fund; and mentoring and networking opportunities.

Trailblazers receive storytelling training, as well as media and networking opportunities aimed at amplifying the reach and impact of their projects.
