What is the program about?
The Emerging Leaders Program has been designed to develop local people to become leaders of tomorrow! The program includes a 6-module course, networking function, guest speakers, coaching and a graduation.
The program is designed to help emerging leaders in the region who are willing, able, and ready to take on their first, or more senior, leadership roles in community organisations or clubs to benefit their communities. The aim of this project is to deliver a high-quality program for the region that will:
- Provide a range of skills, competencies and personal transformation
- Motivate existing and potential leaders to serve their communities
- Develop participant’s capacity to enact change
- Grow the number of leaders within the region
- Improve regional collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Create a network of supportive emerging leaders
What will the program include?
This program will include a Networking Welcome Function and Graduation with the opportunity to listen and meet high profile guest speakers, facilitators and stakeholders. These people will be key decision makers and inspiring leaders within the community. This will be a great opportunity to establish connections, contacts and leadership knowledge for your future leadership endeavors.
Each participant is provided with the option to have two hours of coaching with one of the 6 course facilitators who all have a wealth of knowledge in business, industry, and community. They can focus on key issues and skills required for you to build confidence to take the next step within your community organisation.
During the course and functions local guest speakers will provide inspiring stories so you can learn about their key leadership qualities, tips for success and guidance to empower your organisation’s team members.
Cooee Collective: The Cooee Collective team; Jeanette Long, Beck Burgess, Danielle Lannin England and Jeanette Gellard, are trained and experienced facilitators who are passionate about developing people within regions. They have developed and delivered a range of leadership training in industries and communities across South Australia. Living and working in regional Australia, they ‘live and breathe’ what they teach. They will provide personal experiences about being on boards and committees within industry and their local communities. The modules they deliver will be interactive and engaging with opportunities to apply learning through practical activities.
Hughes: Hughes is an Adelaide-based, SA-owned public relations and communication management consultancy. Since its establishment in 1992, Hughes has developed and protected the reputations of a diverse range of organisations, from multi-national corporations and government bodies through to local Adelaide businesses and community organisations. Hughes’ in-house services include communication strategy development and delivery; media relations, publicity and training; crisis communication management; social and digital media content and delivery; graphic design; video production and photography. Hughes facilitators Verity Edwards and Sharon Ferrier will deliver a two day Media, PR and Presentation Skills module. This will cover how to manage positive media coverage, create engaging and relevant content to drive brand and product awareness through traditional, digital and social platforms, and how to increase your confidence to speak up with clarity to get your message across; to influence and win others over.
- Over 18 years of age
- Reside in the Yorke & Mid North Region (current intake for Southern Flinders Ranges. Clare Valley and Yorke Peninsula Programs to commence in 2023)
- Able to commit to the full 7 day / 2 evening program and compete all the components
- Attached to a local community organisation or club within the YMN region
- Passionate about creating positive change within your community and developing your skills to be a high performing leader.
Please note; participants may need to negotiate with their employers to determine employment arrangements (including wages) while attending scheduled program activities that fall during normal work hours.
The program is $125 per participant.
Organisation or Club Sponsored Position: Participants also have the option to be sponsored by a community organisation or club (e. sporting club, progress organisation, etc). Community organisations or clubs will need to commit to:
- Payment of the Program Fee – a non-refundable payment of $125 paid on acceptance to the program
- Supporting the individual to attend to all scheduled program days
Options are available if you are experiencing financial hardship. No individual should be discouraged from applying because of financial reasons – sponsorship opportunities are available.
