FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In July, the Hon Kristy McBain MP was appointed as the Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories with responsibility for the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Committees program.
As a person who grew up and continues to live in Regional Australia, Minister McBain has a firm connection with our nation’s regions and shares the desire of RDAs to see them thrive.
“I am incredibly honoured and humbled to have been appointed Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories and to have the responsibility for our Regional Development Australia (RDA) Committees program. I am deeply passionate about my portfolio, having been born in regional Victoria and now living in regional New South Wales. I have a strong and personal drive to ensure our regions are the best they can be.”
Minister McBain says, “The Government is committed to helping regional Australia pursue and seize opportunities to strengthen local economies and ensure our regions get a fair share of the nation’s prosperity.
To deliver on this commitment the Government intends to work closely with regional stakeholders to create dynamic, stable, secure and viable communities across Australia, and RDAs have a key role to play in this. Realising long-lasting opportunities for our regions requires renewed creativity and adaptability and strong, collaborative partnerships.”
Deputy Chair of Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North Brenton Vanstone welcomes Minister McBain to her position and says “We look forward to working with our Minister and bringing to fruition the accelerated high level of investment contemplated in our region over the next five years.”
RDAYMN is part of a national network of 52 RDAs across South Australia. In South Australia there is a unique tri-parte funding arrangement where the Commonwealth, State and Local Government fund the economic development activities of RDAs.
