Entrepreneurs and founders require a special set of skills to create a successful business enterprise. Resilience, sound business foundation skills and the ability to be adaptive and dynamic are all traits of successful entrepreneurs. Building on the successful delivery of its three Emerging Leaders Programs, RDA Yorke and Mid North is excited to launch their new program, aimed at delivering skills and mentoring for entrepreneurs and start-ups.

To be held over 6 months in 2019, the program is open to entrepreneurs, start-ups and people with great ideas for a new business, and will include workshops, networking events, mentoring, and an opportunity to build relationships with other entrepreneurs across our region.

The workshops are designed to fit together to enable the production of a business plan for each participant, a plan that will be presented back to the group and mentors at a special graduation evening to be held next year. All workshops are designed to be ‘hands-on’ and tailored to each individual, enabling the participants to learn the skills and knowledge required to write a business plan to move their idea from just that, to a marketable and profitable product or service.

Course Facilitator and Mentor Jeanette Long says ‘It can be very difficult to stay motivated as an entrepreneur beginning their business journey. The aim of this program is to provide a supportive foundation of networks and knowledge to help them get their idea off the ground.”

Program Manager Lynn Wallace adds ‘It can be so important for owner/operators and entrepreneurs to devote time out of their business to working on their business, building their skills and formulating plans. We have designed this course to be relevant, compact and elements will be individualised for participants and the stage of their business journey’.

Each participant will be partnered with a mentor to provide additional support and insight, creating a relevant and dynamic learning space. Jeanette adds “We find that the mentoring component of programs such as this are incredibly special, with the effects of these relationships being long lasting.

Participants can have their own mentor in mind, or we can source one from a dedicated list of experienced and willing mentors”.

High profile guest speakers are involved throughout the program to provide insight and inspiration to participants.

Program Manager Lynn Wallace says “We are delighted to be able to offer this program in the region in partnership with the Department for Industry and Skills. This is a unique opportunity for new businesses in the region to gain valuable skills and knowledge to ensure their future success.”

The program is now open to interested participants across the Yorke, Mid North and Southern Flinders areas. Limited spaces are available.
