4-year funding supports regional growth

A new four-year funding agreement to continue to support economic growth and prosperity in our region has been welcomed by Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North Board Chair Bill Vandepeer.

The funding announcement of $3.307 million over four years by the Minister for Primary Industry and Regional Development will be shared by seven non-metropolitan Regional Development Australia Boards which form part of the Regional Development Australian Framework.

“This is really exciting news for our region and will give us the opportunity to continue our valuable work focusing on strategic projects which deliver the greatest impact in terms of regional development,” Mr Vandepeer said.

“Our regions are critical to our State’s economy and we welcome the announcement by the South Australian Government that they are committed to supporting businesses and innovation, which will lead to prosperity and job creation.”

Mr Vandepeer said the Board would continue to work collaboratively with its strategic partners in local government, and at a state and commonwealth government level, to provide the best possible outcomes for industry and business.

“As the lead economic agency in the region, Regional Development Australia has supported $11.2 billion of investment consideration over a five-year period in 67 tracked projects.

“We are looking towards a strong period of regional growth and capacity building and knowing that the RDAYMN’s future funding is secure for another four years will assist us in continuing to support regional investment,” he said.

“These four years of funding will enable us to focus on strategic projects that deliver the greatest impact in terms of regional development.”
