The role of the Specialist Employment Mentor will focus on supporting Ex-Offender or Indigenous customers by providing intensive mentoring to ensure their transition into employment is successful and sustained. This role is being offered on a part time, ongoing basis located in Kadina.
About You
To be successful in the role you will be able to:
- Demonstrate your ability to use the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and ability to type (minimum 30 words per minute)
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate your ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse range of clients, employers and staff
- Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills with an ability to represent Workskil Australia to funders, employers, RTOs, Indigenous Communities, other employment service providers, and Indigenous people
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of the local labour market
- Prove your understanding of barriers to employment for disadvantaged individuals and Communities
- Demonstrate experience working effectively with a culturally diverse range of people
- Demonstrate an understanding of case management framework
- Demonstrate sales and customer service experience
- Demonstrate extensive working knowledge of federally funded Employment Programs and funding models
- Demonstrate excellence as a case manager in assessing, referring and reducing vocational and non-vocational barriers
- Demonstrate experience mentoring Indigenous job seekers in employment
- Demonstrate experience in working with ex-offenders in an employment or rehabilitation setting
- Proven ability to work in an outcome based, high pressure environment, positively and with enthusiasm
You will also be required to:
- Have a minimum Certificate IV in Employment Services or Career Development
- Hold a current driver’s licence and have own vehicle with the willingness to travel across the region
- Be Indigenous or have extensive experience in working with Indigenous people and communities
