Civil Projects Officer

Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Services, you will be responsible for the provision of technical support to Council to ensure construction best practice is achieved. The role will require a focus on driving best practice and a positive culture throughout the organisation.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Respond promptly to all public customer services requests. Current areas of responsibility include civil (road assets), storm water (flooding), and contract project works
  • Proactively consult, negotiate, and support key stakeholders on civil projects
  • Project management including the preparation and administration of contract documentation
  • Provide civil project information, and work with Civil Technical & Asset Management Officer to ensure Council’s asset management data is up to date and correct
  • Utilise initiative to select appropriate methods or courses of action to resolve problems and perform routine functions across the teams
  • Contribute to Council’s vision for a positive and collaborative workplace culture

To be successful in this diverse role, you will have:

  • Qualifications in Civil Engineering, Surveying or similar
  • Experience of civil engineering design and infrastructure
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in the management and delivery of civil projects
  • Strong negotiation skills at all levels and capable of meeting critical deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to confidently engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

The successful candidate will have solid technical skills and be capable of proactively managing their workload and priorities to meeting competing deadlines.
