Safe Environments for Children and Young People – Through their eyes (previously known as Child Safe Environments Training)

7 Hour Course
Safe Environments for Children and Young People aims to help participants become aware of their values, attitudes and experiences and the impact these may have on responding to child abuse and neglect. It helps participants establish and maintain a child focus, identify indicators of abuse, create safe environments for children and young people, respond and report suspicions of abuse and neglect. This training is for individuals who work with children or young people in either a paid/ voluntary capacity or anyone who is interested in gaining more knowledge on the topic. The program outline includes:
- Child Protection in Context
- Through their eyes – Values and Attitudes
- Risk and Harm – South Australia Legislation
- Risk and Harm – abuse related trauma
- Sexual Abuse
- Online Grooming
- Through Their Eyes Responding to Disclosures
- Safe Environments
- Reporting Suspicion of Risk and Harm

PLEASE NOTE: As recommended by DECD, Centacare CCSA encourages you to consider undertaking the new 7-Hour course before attending the new 3-Hour refresher to ensure a good understanding of the new content.
