Port Pirie Wharf Access

Shipping facilities at Port Pirie had been underutilised for many years and at the same time Perilya were looking for a port to export zinc ore from its Beltana Mine. Port Pirie wharf operated by Flinders Ports was chosen as the preferred facility. Flinders Ports also recognised other potential opportunities for the wharf. RDAYMN assisted Flinders Ports prepare an application for Regional Development Infrastructure Funds for multi-user access to the wharf.

The application was approved and now not only does the Port Pirie Wharf handle zinc ore from Beltana but has been used for handling a wide range of plant and equipment, including Petratherm’s drilling rig, wind farm blades for Suzlon Energy and train engines for a mining company.
