Clements Gap Wind Farm
Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North (RDAYMN) commenced working with Pacific Hydro in 2002. This resulted in a joint visit by the Port Pirie Regional Council and RDAYMN to Pacific Hydro’s Codrington Wind Farm near Portland in Victoria.
RDAYMN assisted by maintaining a list of potential suppliers and contractors along with a list of people interested in working on the project.
For various reasons the project was deferred but the project recommenced with the majority of construction occurring in 2009 and culminated in the opening of the Wind Farm by the Premier of South Australia in February 2010. The project cost was $150 million and will produce 57 MW from 27 Turbines.
The project produces enough clean electricity to power the equivalent needs of around 30,000 homes each year, abating an estimated 200,000 tonnes of greenhouse pollution annually.
