Economic and social infrastructure tools focussed on the Yorke and Mid North region of South Australia are now accessible online in spatial map form through Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North’s website www.yorkeandmidnorth.com.au/regional_profile/mapping.

There are now:

  • Over 800 maps available online covering the region and individual local government areas within the Yorke and Mid North;
  • Over 65 types of data sets available covering a range of subjects including population, infrastructure, income, health, education, natural resources, and transport among other data.

There is also the ability to navigate on an interactive map as well as access to over 800 PDF maps for easy downloading with links to key South Australian and National websites for further information and data sources.

Previously, access to economic and social data for the Yorke and Mid North region was only available through multiple mechanisms including a mix of electronic and hard-copy forms through various sources and, at times, some data required raw data analysis and calculation to gain region level information.

As a public resource this information will assist a broad range of organisations, community groups and sectors in a range of planning contexts including:

  • Investors and businesses exploring potential opportunities in the region (from land use to growth opportunities);
  • Community groups undertaking strategic planning, grant submissions and monitoring of trends;
  • Local and state government, Boards (eg, Natural Resource Management, Northern and Yorke Drought Taskforce) and other not for profit organisations.

“It is crucial for organisations, community groups and individuals to have access to information that can assist in monitoring trends, identifying areas of focus and planning for the region’s future needs. We are very pleased to be providing this valuable resource for the Yorke and Mid North region,” said Kelly-Anne Saffin, CEO of Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North.

Mapping Services Australia have developed the maps with funding support for this initiative was provided through the Department of Trade and Economic Development (DTED) - Office for Small Business and Regional Development Australia (RDA) Yorke and Mid North contribution.
