Motorcross Champs Come To Crystal Brook
‘It’s been a while since South Australia has hosted this event, and it’s long overdue’. Ross Martin, Commissions and Committees Manager with Motorcycling Australia is looking forward to coming to Crystal Brook for the Australian Classic Motorcross Championships in September.
Media Release, Friday 11 February 2011
The event, which attracts over 250 competitors and more than 1000 people each year, is being held at Crystal Brook on 9-11 September 2011. Event Organiser Graeme Eberhard says plans are going well. ‘We had to apply to Motorcycling Australia to host the Championships back in June last year. We were up against other regions and states. South Australia hasn’t hosted the event for a number of years, so it’s good to have it here in Crystal Brook in 2011’. In recent years the event has been held at Broadford Victoria, Launceston Tasmania and Collindale Queensland.
The Australian Classic Motorcross Championships will be held in Crystal Brook on 9-11 September 2011. There are 29 classes of competition events, including Junior and Senior classifications, side-car racing and more. To be eligible to enter, the motorcross machines have to have been manufactured between 1955 and 1985. It is expected that the approximately 250 competitors will bring 300 motorcross bikes with them to compete on the 1.72 km National Standard circuit.
‘We hosted the Open Motocross Australian Titles in 1994, 1996, 1998 and 2000’ Mr. Eberhard said. ‘To get the Classic Championships in 2011 is a great boost for our club’.
