Saturday 7th May 2011 saw the 2nd Annual Southern Flinders Business, Training and Employment Awards held at the Port Football & Community Sporting Club in Port Pirie. Over 150 people enjoyed a two course meal along with local wine and entertainment from musical duo, Helter Skelter.

Seventeen awards were presented on the night under the main categories of Business, Training and Pride of Workmanship, along with six Recognition of Achievement awards. All deserving recipients were delighted with their achievements and prizes.

Shortlisted nominees and winners represented the diverse range of individuals, businesses, organisations and industry sectors thriving in the Southern Flinders Ranges region.

Master of Ceremonies Sean Holden hosted the night and entertained all with his unique style. Guest speaker for the evening was former local identity Wayne Johnson, National Franchise Manager, Century 21 Real Estate.

The aim of these Awards is to recognise and celebrate the achievements of local businesses, organisations and individuals to build a positive profile of employment for the region and assist in raising the skills of existing workers and growing local business. The night was a great success and we look forward to the next Awards event.

The Southern Flinders Business, Training and Employment Awards are an initiative of Regional Development Australia Yorke and Mid North, South Australia Works Working Regions, Rotary Club of Port Pirie and the Port Pirie Chamber of Commerce.
